LADWP cool roof rebate 2026: what qualifies?

LADWP's current Consumer Rebate Program lists a cool-roof rebate of $0.20 to $0.60 per eligible square foot. The exact tier depends on roof slope and the cool-roof product's three-year Solar Reflectance Index (SRI). The eligible product must be CRRC-rated and installed over conditioned space.

Low slope (2:12 or less): three-year SRI of at least 78 for the $0.20 tier or at least 85 for the $0.60 tier.
Steep slope (over 2:12): three-year SRI of at least 20 for the $0.20 tier or at least 35 for the $0.60 tier.
Documentation: paid itemized invoice showing CRRC Product ID, make/model, square footage, slope and color.
Permit: final approved Building and Safety permit is generally required; LADWP lists an exception for liquid-applied coating.

How LADWP solar billing differs from SCE NEM 3.0.

LADWP is NOT subject to California's NEM 3.0 ruling (which applies to investor-owned utilities SCE, PG&E, SDG&E). LADWP operates its own net metering rules with export rules that should be reviewed using the current LADWP tariff, account details, system size, and billing assumptions.

This means LADWP solar economics may differ from SCE solar economics, so homeowners should review the actual utility rules, bill history, system size, battery plan, and current incentive eligibility before relying on a payback estimate.

Separate LADWP rebates from expired federal deadlines.

LADWP programs continue under their own utility terms, but the major homeowner federal deadlines have passed. The federal Residential Clean Energy Credit is not available for expenditures made after December 31, 2025. The Energy Efficient Home Improvement Credit does not apply to property placed in service after December 31, 2025.
