Tesla Powerwall and Enphase IQ Battery systems are designed for minimal ongoing maintenance — but understanding warranty terms, software updates, and performance monitoring is important for protecting your investment. As a Tesla Certified Premium Installer, we handle professional installation to manufacturer specifications and support warranty claim initiation where applicable.

Warranty terms are set by the manufacturers — Tesla and Enphase — not by HUS. We recommend reviewing current manufacturer warranty documents at time of purchase, as terms may be updated. The following is a general overview based on publicly available information.
Warranty terms are subject to change. Always review current manufacturer documentation. HUS is not the warranty provider and warranty claims are processed directly with the manufacturer.
Modern home battery systems such as Tesla Powerwall and Enphase IQ Battery are designed for relatively low physical maintenance compared with fuel-powered generators or older service-intensive storage systems. Owners should still follow the current manufacturer manuals, maintain required clearances and monitor system status. Here is what ongoing ownership looks like.

Battery capacity can decline over time with age, cycling and operating conditions. Tesla's current U.S. Powerwall warranty specifies 70% energy retention at year 10, subject to the applicable use, throughput, exclusions and other warranty terms. Actual retained capacity varies by system and operating history, so performance should be evaluated from monitoring data rather than a generic expectation.
Factors that affect long-term capacity in LA and OC homes:
Tesla Certified Premium Installer. Manufacturer warranty eligibility is governed by the current written warranty, product, purchase, installation, operation and service requirements. Tesla Powerwall and Enphase IQ Battery planning across Los Angeles and Orange County.
Tesla's current U.S. Powerwall limited warranty provides 10-year defect coverage and 70% energy retention at year 10, subject to the warranty's application, throughput, exclusions and other terms. The current warranty applies to covered products purchased from Tesla or a Tesla Certified Installer in the United States. Warranty terms are set by Tesla, not by HUS, and current Tesla documents should be reviewed at the time of purchase.
Enphase's current U.S. limited warranty for the covered IQ Battery 5P SKU ends on the earlier of 15 years from activation or 6,000 discharged cycles, subject to the warranty's terms, exclusions and covered-product requirements. Enphase sets the warranty terms, and the current document for the specific SKU and activation date should be reviewed at purchase.
Home batteries (lithium-iron phosphate chemistry used in Powerwall and Enphase IQ Battery) require minimal physical maintenance compared to lead-acid batteries. The main maintenance tasks are keeping the units clean and clear of debris, ensuring adequate ventilation clearances, keeping software updated, and periodically reviewing system performance in the Tesla or Enphase app. We do not schedule routine annual maintenance visits for battery-only installs, but can review the system if performance concerns arise.
Tesla Powerwall and Enphase IQ Battery systems receive over-the-air (OTA) firmware and software updates automatically when connected to Wi-Fi. Updates can improve performance, add features, adjust charging behavior, and address safety-related issues. Keeping the system connected to Wi-Fi and allowing updates is recommended by both manufacturers. Updates are managed by Tesla or Enphase — HUS does not control the update schedule.
Common warranty exclusions include physical damage not caused by manufacturing defects, installation not performed by a qualified or certified installer, modifications to the system not authorized by the manufacturer, operating outside specified temperature or environment ranges, and failure to maintain minimum clearances. We install to manufacturer specifications to protect warranty eligibility.
If your battery loses capacity below the warranty threshold before the warranty period ends, the manufacturer (Tesla or Enphase) is responsible for repair or replacement under the warranty terms. The warranty claim process is managed directly with the manufacturer. As a Tesla Certified Premium Installer, HUS can assist with warranty claim initiation and documentation where applicable.
Yes. Tesla Powerwall is monitored via the Tesla app, which shows real-time battery level, solar production (if applicable), home consumption, and grid status. Enphase IQ Battery is monitored via the Enphase Enlighten app with similar functionality. Both apps provide historical data, outage logs, and performance history. We configure app access during commissioning.
Tesla publishes an operating temperature range for Powerwall 3, but equipment placement must still comply with the current installation manual, required clearances, environmental limits and local code. Enphase temperature limits should be checked against the current documentation for the specific IQ Battery SKU rather than assumed to match Tesla. Site exposure and placement are reviewed during project design.
Physical cleaning is minimal — periodically clearing dust, debris, or cobwebs from ventilation areas and the exterior is sufficient. No internal cleaning is required or recommended for lithium battery systems. If the unit is installed outdoors in a high-dust or coastal salt-air environment, we may recommend inspecting the unit more frequently.
