Do I need a utility interconnection application for a standalone battery?
A standalone battery (without solar) typically does not require a utility interconnection application in most jurisdictions, because it does not export power to the grid. However, when battery storage is added to an existing solar system, a new or amended interconnection application may be required by LADWP or SCE, depending on system configuration and the utility’s current policies. We assess interconnection requirements during the estimate.
